Explorer just hit 140,008 today and so far in the last 10,000 miles have had front brake pads, new air filter, new battery, new fuel pump, a few oil changes...whats everyone else's clock at right now and what work have u had done to the X? :exporange

82,500 (ish)..in the last 10k..oil changes, front brake pads, air filter, tranny fluid and filter change..

needs a window motor and a float for the gas gauge..real soon now..

EDIT: jsut did F*()&^N radius arm bushings this weekend..really not so bad when the rivets are already drilled out..

83,000
Just did shocks, O2's, replaced the front speakers (right front was toast), PCV, lubed the spare winch and trans cable.

Last 10,000 was the usual oil changes, Plugs and wires (at 75K) and nothing else.

1992: 227,000. Oil, front brakes, air intake, shocks, window motor, and the nonessentials.

1991: 220,000 -ish on the gauge pod that's in it, actual milage is closer to 250,000, nothing major in last 10K except maybe 1 oil change.

And I just realized this is in the 95-01 forum, put i'm not the first 1st gen.

in the last 10k we have had front brakes and rotors, T-stat, rebuild tranny. and thats it for major repair.

But i have done the oil changes, oh yah and i forgot about the fuel pump, because with 160,000 miles the fuel filter was never replaced. Then the dealership never replaced it, so i ended up doint it myself.

Im really happy thoug, because i finally figured out why my the 60 part of my back seat would not work

132892, 2000 XLT

front passenger window motor,
new wire from drives panel to passenger window motor
new tires and shocks
oil, washer fluid
brake pads and rotor turn
drivers seat relining bolt (fixed before I knew there was a recall)
cleaned IAC
replaced read passenger light assembly (wife backed into a parked car)
washed, waxed and buffed bugs and other debris off of paint.
disconnected drivers lock tumbler to fix an unlock issue.

more repairs to come.

David

78000 miles and change
All new brakes (Rotors and Pads)
Replaced IAC
Replaced Thermostat
Oil Changes
Need Tranny Flush soon

175,000 miles - oil changes, a rear diff. fluid change, new thermostat and new AIV.

Now we're waiting to hear whether or not she's done for since she got hit a month ago.

I just hit 148,000 miles today on my 89. In the last few years, I've replaced the battery, starter, lower radiator hose, thermostat, timing chain, front shocks, front tires, fan clutch, water pump, 2 belts, engine oil, transmission fluid, antifreeze, power steering fluid, brake fluid, adjusted the rear drum brakes, headlight bulbs, dashboard light bulbs, rear brake light bulbs, interior light bulbs, brake pedal rubber cover, power steering cap, radiator cap, and other small items.

Rolled over 151,000 and took in for break pads, oil lines replaced, tranny flush, coolant flush, belts checked, dash bulbs replaced, rear passanger lens replaced. in last 10k had plugs, wires, battery, disty, ac compressor

141,500, new wheels tires, plus the new set i took off that dealer put on. dealer also put on new brake rotors, air filter. I had to replace the tensioner pulley on the serpentine belt (housing snapped off and belt was holding everything together, kinda scary). Few oil changes. Um new windshield wipers lol? think thats it.

124,000 miles. The only "repairs" in the last 75,000 miles were the cam chain tensioners, fuel pump and 1 downstream O2 sensor.

In the last 10,000 miles I replaced battery, exhaust, shocks, outer TREs, sway bar bushings and end links. Fuel filter, air filter, thermostat, plugs, wires, CPS, PCV and all fluids (both diffs, TC, trans, AF, PS, brakes). Recharged A/C, cleaned TB.

Tires (michelin), brakes (raybestos severe duty) and belt (gatorback) all still good with approximately 60, 40 & 50 K miles respectively. Probably will replace all 3 next year though.

Man, isn't that the way it goes? A trouble-free vehicle gets done in.
It's like finally getting a good dog who can hunt, and he gets run over by a car on the way to the field.
My '99 Limited with 170k on the clock has been a rock-solid workhorse. A testament to Explorers for sure. Aside from the normal maintenance items (oil/fluid changes, tires and brakes) I have had absolutely no problems with this car worth noting, aside from niggling little switches here & there that are easily fixed at no cost; a keypad that needed a $4 repair; a bad led display on the Mach radio (fixed). I do have an intermittent pinging at highway speed acceleration, however my mileage is very respectable for a V8 AWD - being a solid 21 on the highway.
I purchased this LTD on eBay, sight unseen I might add. Not a ding on it, and the interior looks almost like new.
Doing the math, this vehicle has been 1/3 the cost per mile than our Honda Odyssey. Unlike the Odyssey, this Exp. has another 100k left in it before anything major..I just have that feeling. Same feeling that I had with my '91 when I bought it at 91k. Years later, it got totaled in a head on with a Daewoo Nubira at 230k+ (I won). And it was still going strong with all of the original drivetrain/major components.

mine's at around 150k or so (odometer is off due to 33's)
I've done:
replaced front rotors with vented and slotted rotors
replaced pads
destroyed yet another front d-shaft (2 in 2 yrs)
balljoints (a couple of them twice, still waiting to replace the dri side lower control arm)
wheel bearings (twice)
installed aux. tranny filter/replaced filter twice
1 or 2 oil changes
replaced front diffy fluid (desperately needed it!)
still gotta fix my outer door handle... it's floppy half way up, but still opens the door thank God!
I think that's about it

Tell me about it.
Had a '98 Dodge Stratus V6 with 70K.
Some low life stole it right out of my driveway.
Completely trouble free and paid for.

'99 XLT SOHC V6 with 70K. Purchased a couple months ago.
Left (driver's side) front axle seal is the only thing so far.
I have no idea what has been done to this vehicle prior to my purchase other than plugs and wires.
keeping my fingers crossed.
Engine is quiet and drive train seems tight.
