Those of you with 18s or bigger, what kind of shocks are you running?

i currently have the Edelbrocks. they are overpriced, but they ride great.

the VST's rode good for a week or two. then, the ride started to go south real quick. both sets that i removed from the front were "limp". when they went on the truck, it was hard to compress them to mount them. when they came off, i could move the shock up and down with 2 fingers. one had oil all over it (it REALLY failed).

How about yours, Matt? Do you still have Gabrials? How do you like 'em?

What do you have on now if you don't mind me asking?

...and how do you like 'em and how much were they?

Sorry about all the questions I just don't want to spend so much. On top of that spend it on the wrong shocks.

Well, you really can't get the ones I have. They were the ones for Saleen Explorers. You can still get Bilsteins Just not specificly for lowered Explorers.

Hey guys, a little off toipc, but I noticed a red "u" shaped bar on both Frankrizzo's pic and Black Magics. Being that I know very little about my truck, but am working on changing that, what is that red bar? Is it a sway bar?

Yes.

That is a Saleen Anti-Sway bar. You can't get them anymore. But you can get the Explorer Express Anti-Sway bar. They are a better kit-n-fit out of the box. The Saleen bar requires you to get new bushings and other harware to get it to fit. The Explorer Express comes complete.

Is the EE sway bar worth the money? If it is, would it be okay just to get the ones in the back since the one in front looks pretty thick?

The EE ones are great! And Yes, get the rear. It will make a huge differnce. Also I am not sure but I think you 97 front might be hollow. So you might want to search and find out. It it is get the EE Front for a night and day difference in your ride!

Okay Matt I'll take your word for it and dozens of other members of this site. But is EE the only place to get these? Their prices are a little, well, pricey.

EE is the only place to get them. Saleen doesnt make theirs anymore. the 95-97 front bars are the hollow ones, so get a front bar too. 98-up have the solid bar that doesnt need upgrading.

Thanks, James.

Would you consider EE sway bars and the Edelbrock IAS a "good buy" (worth the money)? I hate to spend so much money if the return is just so-so.

Thanks again for your input.

X-factor
I recently installed both front and rear EE sway bars and a set of edlebrocks for lowered X's (about a 2" drop) with a set of 18's wrapped in 255/55 Toyos. All I can say is DAMN!! It makes a huge difference. I have ridden in several cars that my X can now out handle. If you can afford it, do it!

Thanks, stretch-
How's the ride through bumps on the road? We have lots of those here in NYC.

The ride is a little stiff (but rides smooth) but that is what gives it it's great handling characteristics. Now I don't have to hit the bumps in the road, I can just slalom through them.:D Seriously though, when I bought my X the shocks were on their way out so I can't really compare before and after. I can say it's the best thing I've done for my street X.

Thanks for the input, Stretch.
