Thoughts on an extended warrantee - worth it? (not my X)

Did not buy one for my 2002 Limited V8 4WD/AWD and now at 78K do not think I would have broken even on it. Of course, I have not been into it for a new tranny or rear diff.

My 2004 Mustang GT is close to expiration of warrantee, and now it is decision time again.

I have never purchased one of these and have never had the major repair that would have made it a good payback.

Your results may vary - any thoughts?

Statistically it's not money well spent. Peace of mind is another story.

Usually it's a good buy when you buy a new vehicle that you plan on keeping a while. They're always cheaper the lower the miles the car currently has on it.

Personally I say take the money you would spend on it now and put it into a savings account and take it out when you have needed repairs.
