Well, I got my new throttle body in the mail the other day, and I started reading the instructions on how to put it on. It should be an easy 1-2 hour install, right? Anyway, it seems I can do it myself except that the instructions say that some of the factory screws have Locktite on them and you need an air-impact hammer wrench type thing or something to get them off, or else you have to cut them off. Are they exaggerating, or do I have to get someone to install this thing and pay $50?

I would really like to do it myself. I'm pretty good at reasonable bolt-on stuff, and this should be as easy as cleaning my MAS.

BTW, after I put this TB on, my intake hose will probably be the most restrictive part of my intake system. I was thinking about getting a mandrel 90degree turn and some other tubing and making a smooth intake pathway. Any ideas about that?

Thanks y'all!

Alec, when I did my TB swap, I had some trouble with the throttle position sensor screws. The problem seems to be twofold. One, the screws are on really tightly, although mine showed no evidence of locktite, and two, you have absolutly no leverage when trying to remove the screws. I suppose putting the TB into a bench vise might have helped, but probably would have damaged the unit.

Because of these issues, I went out and purchased a hand-held impact wrench. A couple of swift hits on each screw had them going. BTW, if you do get end up getting one, don't get the $3-$5 dollar one from Asia, they don't seem to last more than one or two uses, get the american one that cost's at least twice as much.

Good luck!

TB install

I just put my new TB in last night. It is a 66mm BBK from truck performance and I paid 193 for it. Anyways a while back I had a check engine light come on and as a result I changed all of my sensors, this included my throttle position sensor which is on the TB. It was tough but with a little patience I got it off with a regular albiet large screwdriver. As far as the TB itself, it came off without any struggle at all. In my kit it included new hardware for the switch and the TB so if needed I could have ground off the screws. Anyways good luck and you will feel the difference. If you have luck with the intake tube let me know I am looking for a similar setup for a little different reason.

I didn't have any problems with my BBK TB. Took me about 30 min.
