Throttle Body Spacer

I was wondering if anyone knew if a throttle body spacer would help a 2003 Explorer XLT 4.0 V6 with a K&N cold air intake? I am wondering if it would help in anyway- power or mpg.

most(if not all) users have reported no significant gain, dyno proven. invest in a cold air intake and or a larger throttle body like ruby slow said. o wait. you say you have the intake? or is it just the drop in filter?

either way the best mod to partner with your intake is an exhaust system

Technically, nobody. But...A 4.6L Crown Vic/F-150/Mustang from around 2000-2001 will be the same. I discovered that the bolt pattern on the 4.0 FFV is identical to that of a 2000 Crown Victoria when I ordered a throttle body gasket for one.

I wouldn't bother with one though. As others have mentioned, it doesn't do much.

I wrote up a thread on improving response and performance on the '04+ 4.0 a while back by simply eliminating the plastic throttle body gasket, and using a flat paper gasket from a ~2000 F-150 or Crown Vic 4.6L. You'll need shorter bolts or a couple washers to take up the space that the thick plastic gasket occupied though. That's simple enough.
If you have a pre-'04 model with a cable style throttle body, a little work with a Dremel tool and you can eliminate the little plastic "vanes" cast into the throttle body and improve the airflow a bit. The threads are probably only a page or two back on this forum giving more detail on how to do it.
