Ok so Xploda is in the need of TLC and new shocks is #1 on my list. Lets here your ideas and input on what I should try this time around. Btw im 4x4 and lowered 3" :D

Same here, 3" drop. I bought my last sets of shocks here:

I have Nitro Slammer shocks in the back but they recommended that I get the mono-shocks for the front since the Explorer is front heavy. I must say they are better than my previous set (Edelbrock IAS). Not much much better but still a step up. You would have to call them and tell them the exact length of each shocks when fully extended and when resting on the ground. I guess this makes it custom made for your ride height.

I've never tried the cheapo brand i.e. Sensotrac that Sears sell. I might give those a try next time around since they are so cheap when they go on sale ($25-$35).

Hope this helps. :)

I have the Nitro Slammers now and didnt really like them... hmmm I'll have to check out the ones @ Sears. I work there so 15% discount sounds good to me :D

thanks!

The Monroe Sensatracs are a good shock, but usually the cheap ones at Sears are the Monroe Yellows. Not bad for $9.99 a shock when they're 50% off, but you get what you pay for.

If it hasn't already been done before (and I think surely someone on here has done it), I'd suggest researching similar 2WD applications that came with shorter shocks and getting those. You can check out the Monroes at work to see if they'll work or not.

The best bets for quality shocks are usually Bilstein or the KYB Gas-a-just. These are monotube shocks and will give much better performance than the cheaper twin-tube low pressure design, although they are firmer, and cheaper twin tube shocks give a stock-life comfy ride.

I wouldn't let the idiots at Kmart/Sears put air in my tires.

I worked for Sears (Store 2309, Silverdale, WA) for almost 10 years before Kmart bought them out, after we got jacked around on benefits, and pay, I promptly left. After I left, most of my friends left too. It's just a joke in there.

When I left, I said they had no more than 7 years left before they go out of business. That was 2 years ago.

And so far, my prediction is still on track.

Take the Sears price to another garage, and they'll take care of you.

Ryan

Hey do you have the Doetsch nitro slammers now? or is it a different nitro shock? I sell tons of Doetsch shocks to the ranger guys and have never heard anybody not liking them.

yeah no way I would let Sears install them on my ride, i'll do it myself ;)

yeah I have the Doestschs now, it was when they first came out.... I dunno maybe I should give um another try
