My tranny is the stock one (130k miles)and from the service records on my X it doesn't look like it's had any major work done on it, other than the requisite flushing and fluid changing. Nothing wrong with the way it's been operating at all, but I am hearing a noise that has me wondering if I'm about to start having some problems.

I hear this noise whenever I'm driving and I am stopped at a light or a stop sign....I take my foot off the brake and hear a "clunk" as I am beginning to give it gas. It's not something that I can feel as far as vibration or anything, but it's definitely audible. Other than that, like I said...no problems.

Any ideas on what this might be and whether or not it's a problem or the beginning of one?

Thanks,

James

Most likely a u-joint or driveshaft slip joint. It would be a good idea to lube the driveshaft and check the u-joints.

Good Luck
