The time has come to rebuild my transmission. I plan to do ALL of the work myself. I am pretty good at working with mechanics, but I have never done this before. My first step was buying the ATSG Transmission Manual for an A4LD Ford Automatic transmission.

My truck is a 1992 Ford Explorer 4X4 with an Automatic Transmission. It is leaking and slipping. I suspect there is some damage inside from the low fluid levels, but I am going to rebuild regardless.

I NEED HELP! Anyone who know what they are talking about and could help me are welcomed to. This is my only means of transportation... nearest family = 720 miles.

Thanks in advance. :)

BTW, here's my X: www.cardomain.com/id/korai9989

There is an diary written by a member here for the A4LD rebuild. Also there is an ATSG update manual available. I don't know whats in it though. I assume it shows what parts you can update to later ones or something.

I can't find the "A4LD Diary" that I've read about. Can someone help me locate it or link me up? I would appreciate that. Thanks.

Hi again,

I just typed "A4LD diary" into the search. In a few seconds I had part 4.

The opening post in part 4 has links to the others.

Thanks. I might still look into some other options besides rebuilding. It may be too difficult and time consuming for me.

yeah...My A4ld was rebuilt too many times. I swapped in a C5. LOL I did it myself though.

I decided to have mine rebuilt professionally. It is its first rebuild, and will be the last. When I can afford it, I may swap transmissions. I have plenty of other things to do to it first: www.cardomain.com/id/korai9989
