Timing chain needs replacement.....

Well the Title says it all lol. In all seriousness I need to know how hard on a scale 1-10 on the duty of two mechanically inclined guys can do this? There is a bulletin of 4.0 and 4.6 engines with timing chain guides and various other parts having problems in these engines.. The one thing that sucks there is no recall on them so I have no luck on getting it done for free lol. The timing chain has been an apparent problem for the last year but I never really thought that was my problem.. I just want to know how hard and labor intensive this will be because I just went trough another transmission in this thing and I don't want to go through another one. I'm lucky the last tranny went out under warranty
Note this is tranny #3.... I'm too far into this thing I can't crawl back out lol...
Here's another shocker I'm only getting 10mpg.... this v6 is sucking more gas than my 1990 5.0 and my 2006 5.4 in the navigator.... with gas being 3.40 were I'm at that is a no go for me
