timing chain

I was just wondering when I should change my timing chain on my 4.0 and do I have have to drop the oil pan like I have been told. any info would be greatfull

How many miles are on your truck?

Is there any reason to suspect it needs replacing? (knocking from the front of the engine, timing off, etc.)

If there's nothing suggesting something's wrong with it. Don't worry about it. They can last a long time, possibly the life of the engine. It's timing belts that you need to change at regular intervals.
