Alright, so in my transformation to black out my explorer, I want to tint my foglights, but I really don't like the way VHT comes out (I used them on my tails) I was wondering if I used window tint, if it would bubble with the heat of the glass from the light at all. Comments and pictures would be much appreciated

I'd just remove them and replace them with a piece of black plastic -- fog lights are useless even in "fogs" ;). All they do is suck up power from the alternator.

Yeah, I've always wondered what the poitn of them were? If it's real foggy I just turn my brights on so people can see me from further away. They're good for better light at night, but that's about it to me.

VHT would just end up chipping off from road debris hitting it. Window tint would do the same.

Maybe look into some sort of colored headlight film...

I'm not getting rid of them, I bought an XLT front bumper, complete fog kit, and HIDs for them because I wanted HID fogs.

I purchased vinyl overlays on eBay precut for them, however the're small and don't fit. I contacted the manufacturer however they said it's because I need to heat up the vinyl and stretch it? I'm not doing that hah. I need other options.

I have yellow window film over my stock fogs it bubbled a lil bit but its ripping a lil bit to i need to put a new patch of yellow window film.

I have a whole bunch of yellow window film left over. But eventually i wanna get a brighter bulb for my fogs 35 watt is not enough for me. I wish they had like 50 or 55 watt for the fogs for our explorers.

i dont have enough money to buy the hid fogs yet. But eventually i am thinkin of gettin the 3000K yellow hid fogs for my explorer.

That's the worse thing you can do. It reflects your lights back at you causing it harder for YOU to see.

Yeah you dont use highbeams in fogs -- the same applies for heavy snowstorms as your eyes will tend to focus on what is bright and what is directly in front of you (which would be the falling snow).

I don't understand why you would spend all the money on the bumper, fog kit, and HID's- then make them mostly useless by covering them with anything- doesn't that defeat the purpose? It's like HID's with headlight covers, or **** on a boar hog... :D

I love the look of HID fogs, I would just like to smoke them out a little so they aren't so shiny when your looking @ it headon..

Maybe I should clarify, when I think of fog I think of it more like in the mornings. Like from 5-8am in teh morning, when it's plenty of light but low visibility. The lights don't "light up" anything, it's just so other drivers can see me from further away then with the normal beams.

When it's foggy at night I just don't drive.. I'm about blind at night anyways, hell, if the hallways dark there's a 95% chance I'll run into a wall... and that's during the day.

I LOVE fog lights! I was reading over this thread and it was giving me a head ake for some reason? Tinting? Right? The way I tint my lights is with blue spray tint and it comes out black. Works VERY well for me...As for HIDs my brother has the 55w in his Jeep WRX <<I think thats what its called he's always getting something new haha. But his HIDs are nice :)

Jeep WRX? Maybe a Subaru WRX i think those have HID's stock depending on what model he got.

Danny, the problem with that is it may not come out even for someone without a steady hand.. I'd rather get the vinyl overlays if I could
