even the stock manifold can be tuned up you can take a reamer and ream the ports so you get a smooth air flow and when you get custom headers the same should be done to them so you dont have any burrs on them so maximum performance is what you will get .

another tip about exhuast..... IT IS ILLEGAL TO REMOVE THE CATS, ALSO IT WONT DO MUCH FOR PERFORMANCE, IT MAY ACTUALLY HURT IT, AS EXPLORERS NEED THAT BACKPRESSURE... AND ANOTHER THING, ACCORDING TO THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, ALL EXPLORERS (PASSENGER VEHICLES) MUST HAVE A TAILPIPE EXIT EITHER AT OR BEHIND THE REAR AXLE.... NO MUFFLER DUMP OR EXIT IN FRONT OF THE REAR TIRE ALLOWED BY LAW
