i am in need of some ideas as to how to set the pinion angle for my rear SOA. i'm doing thius next week and wnat to have everything available that i need. do i neec to shim the perches? how do I "eyeball" the angle...etc...

i'm thinking that i can weld the poerches directly over the old ones and that should be fine. any body have any upclose pictures or other ideas?

You want the new perches to be parallel to the old ones. So take measurements on both sides of the axle. When they're equal, they're parallel.

use a level. rotate the axle until the bottom perch is level, then set the top one level and tack it into place. do the same thing on the other side and you are good to go. use 2 levels, one on bottom and one on top to make sure nothing slips out of place.
