I read all the threads and gained a bunch of info. I was just wanting some does or don'ts before I tear her apart and install the locker and convert the rear to disc brakes. So what does everyone have to say???????

Ok you skally wags! I know some of you have done this. I read the write ups! Anyone?

ITs pretty straight forward.

Now is the time to get the e brake drum hardware and for goodness sake use new calipers and pads. The calipers are like $12 ea t Autozone...

To do it right you should use the correct rear disc brake master cylinder, otherwise it will never work to its fullpotential. I have been driving my BII with a 97 Ex 8.8 in the back for like three years, still using the drum brake master cylinder, and while they work far better then drums ever did, it could be better if I would get off my azz and use the correct master........

Ahhhh, good ole reliable 410Fortune!! Thanks for the reply as always. I bought the setup from someone on this site its a kit. So I think I have everything. It's all new stuff! What is the ebrake drum hardware I need. Or maybe I should go read the threads again???

What would be the correct master cylinder?

hahahaha the tricky part.

It is best to do the master cylinder now because it can save you from adjusting your stock one (adjust, drive, adjust, drive, adjust, drive...) and from bleeding all four twice

Getting the correct master is the tricky part.
For you I believe a 1995 Explorer will bolt on perfect.
In 95 they all had discs, the computer at the parts place will till promt them to ask, just say disks.

The part thats tricky is making sure the new master has the same features as your stock (ABS, low brake fluid sensor, ABS sensor) one, you see with a Bronco II it only had RABS so its harder. BUt a 94 and 95 should interchange perfectly, but research is your friend because the parts guy doesnt know...

The e brake is a drum setup inside the rotor for the rear disc. The shoes wear out and unless yours are new go get the hardware kit now, I got mine at the dealer for like $100 but I have since seen somebody post about Car Quest or Napa @ $49

Also the rear grease seals, it doesnt hurt to change your rear seals at this time...

You might have to "finagle" the e brake cables, but since its already an 8.8 rear I am not sure....

410 he has all the parking brake stuff sans the cables. Its new.

I would replace the hard lines and the flex hose from the frame to the axle.

The axle seals is a good idea also - since you have to have the brakes off to do it. Check the axle bearings while you are looking.

Good Luck and have fun.

SteveVB: Thanks for the parts. She's up on jack stands and half way apart. My diff oil smelled burnt. So I know she was due for some servicing.
