Tips on tuning my stereo?

I have a pioneer DEH-4400 HU and pioneer A5767 (i think) speakers and i cannot for the life of me stop the rear speakers from breaking up with out turning the bass way down. I have bass blockers but in not sure what theyre rated for. I also cant get my subs to put out anything decent with out turning on loud. Any one have any ideas or any webpages out there with tips on tuning car audio equioment?

I would check to see if the speakers are blown first. From what you said "breaking up" they sound like that may be the case. You dont want to put alot of bass in your door speakers they are not meant for it. As far as a site on tuning your system. Just go to your local audio store and ask them questions most of them can be helpful "most"

do you have an amp ran to the subs? if so turn it up. do you have a sub out on your head unit? If there isn't a cross-over on it then you need to get an external one. As for the rear speakers if they distort when turned up just to a reasonable volume then you are underpowering them. You'll probibly just need a small amp on them.

I have the subs for the amp cranked up almost all the way. I had external cross overs on my old speakers and bass blockers and they would still break up but the front speakers are fine. Im definantly leaning more towards a 4 channel amp to power my speakers. mmm yet another eletronic device for me to get wet and blow up... fun

well a 4 channel amp would allow you to adjust all your speakers..... do ya have the pioneers front and rear, the same speakers....by when you say breaking up, I am assuming you are meaning distortion....dont do it, if it distorts its too loud, and probably doesn't have enough power... do you have bass blockers on all 4 speakers??? do you have your fader set at anything but stock......questions questions.... as for your sub, try adjusting the gain, and if it has boost that too, but if the subs distort turn it back down... finally adjust your easy EQ a little, maybe give the lows and highs a little boost... and adjust your tuning frequency for the pioneer, on mine you just hold down the menu? button to get the frequency Q's up.... one for low one for mid, and one for high.... I'd say adjust the one for lows to 40hz, Q to 2w, the mids to your liking, Q to 1n-1w, and the highs to a high hz, Q around 1w-2w..... Ive gotta find some time to play around with it. I only have bass blockers on the rear speakers, i dont have any problem with the front ones distorting. If i turn the bass down the rear speakers will stop distorting but then there is no bass what so ever. Ive tried playing with the frequencies but im not really sure what im doing.

you shouldn't be getting very much bass at all to the rear spks with the bass blockers..... try playin with it.... did you put the blockers in?? I have some frequency capacitors, like bass blockers... I can bring over to carslisle to see if that'll help...since It looks as though I'll be going! heck probably cant even make it up into your ex after you have it done!!!

well i should have the stereo fixed by carlisle hopefully all depends on money. i think an amp with a low pass (i think?) filter would help alot. Im parting out my old explorer and im getting 600 bucks for the motor so that should pay for most of the things i want in the immediate future, yeah if your short good luck getting in. A friend of mine is like 5'3 and she curses me everytime we go somewhere.

not too short.....6'1'' anyways im in the same boat sort of..I got a bunch of stuff to do by carslisle, countin the days till my classes end, so I can start... (fix my 1/4 panel, fix bumper, finish box/ false floor, touch up, clean, CLEAN and clean)

and if youre going to by an amp.... say a 4 channel, there are lots of different opinions on amps floatin round here so if youre not too confused you should be able to decide, how much $$$ you plannin on spending?, and you'd be looking for a high-pass x-over actually, for the door spks, to block out unreproducable frequencies, most decent amps have em....

I had a profile Baja 440 a while ago and i'd probably look for something like that again. I should probably invest in an equalizer that would probably help alot.

I used to have a old profile california, everybody bashed it, but held up well, even below its rated ohm load....
some other cheaper but still ok brands I'd say are:
mobile authority, jensen, profile, crunch, pyle, and more.... EQ would probably help to, one of those dash mountable ones would probably be good....
