'95 XLT
Recently bought a 95 XLT. I'm looking for a new set of tires and would like some recommendations. As of right now its just a commuter vehicle. Also, the sticker on my door says to fill to a 26psi pressure and that seems low to me.

32-34 psi.. You have a explorer that doesn't have the updated tire information sticker

I was running 35 in mine so that it would give it descent gas mileage and so that the tread was wearing better on the pavement.

Yes that is low and it caused a lot of problems. I always go by what the tyre says.
You would need to list what you prefer and what you are going to do with your vehicle as to what tyres people can recommend. i.e road comfort/noise factor, offroad mud/sand and what you want to pay

I keep mine around 34 PSI. And I am running a set of Michellin LTX M/S. Great tire. My '96 is a commuter like yours. My '04 is basically for travel, but also has the LTX's.

Thanks for the input everybody... I've been putting 30 in my tires but i'll bump them up a few pounds next time I'm at a gas station.

McSlug: as for comfort/noise i'm not really that picky. As long as I can hear the radio I'm fine. Money-wise I'm willing to pay for the right tires.
