The only thing tire shine is good for is at car/truck shows where you want shiny tire sidewalls and even shiny tire tread for some reason. Maybe it also helps when detailing a used car for sale.
It's useless otherwise though. Despite the marketing, it doesn't "protect" anything. Modern tires come with UV protectant layers and stuff in the rubber that is all the tires need for a long life. Call up and ask the engineers and chemists, they'll tell you. The chemicals in tire shine and rubber "protectants" actually damage these layers and can actually cause those tiny cracks in the sidewall. You can keep applying the stuff to try and hide it, but it eventually gets worse and worse until you need new tires.
If you do cart/truck shows, hey great, shine on. Otherwise, waste of money. Tire shine also sucks because it gets on the body as mentioned, and makes the shoulder of the tire slip during cornering until it wears off. Not safe.
