Hi Gang,

I just purchased two new Goodyear Fortera tires for my 02 Explorer. They are the exact same size as the original tires. The originals were Michelins. I had Goodyear install the tires on the front and they made an awful noise when I decelerated between 40 and 30 MPH. I returned to Goodyear and they checked out the front end and found nothing wrong. Vehicle has 45,000 miles on it. They put hte tires on the rear and the front end noise has stopped but now I hear it from the rear. Goodyear insists that there is nothing wrong with the tires.

Any comments or similiar experiences?

Thanks,
Phil

A whining type sound. If ihadn't just put the tires on that day I would have suspected wheel bearings.

First I really dont like the way those tires look, But try air pressure!

Hate to say it but some tires are just obnoxiously loud, they won't affect performance or cause any mechanical issues. But they will make that whirring sound your talking about. Only way to fix it is to swap them out with something else.
