Can one have two different pairs of tires on at one time. The example being 2 255/70 R16's Goodyear Wrangler AP and 2 255/70 R16's BF Goodridge all terrain TA? One set being all purpose and the other being off road 50/50.

Vehicle is 4x4 not AWD.

If this is possible, without any side effects, would it be better to put the 50/50 off road set at the rear or front?

i think it shoud be fine...yeah, put the AT's in the back...lots of offroaders run boggers in the back and tsl's in the front...but they dont really drive those on the road...i think you should be fine though...

I'm just wondering with the control track if it's not really that great of an idea? If I recall the power is disributed 90% rear 10% front until there is wheel spin, then it's distributed 50/50. Just wouldn't want to see you mess up your transfer case. Probably be fine, but I myself wouldn't do it. I know for sure that you wouldn't want to go with 2 different sizes.

I think i might be able to get hold of a part worn set, instead of just two.

You always hear people talk about off-road tires being loud compared to all season ones, but how loud are like mud hog tires on the road, silly loud?

I had a set of BFG Mud Terrain tires on my Yota and I didn't think they were that bad.....but then again I always have the stereo on too.

tyre pair ?

except for the 'road noise' u prob'ly won't notice any difference till you go 'out muddin' ;) :exp:
