If I am currently running P235 75R15, what do I have to look for to make sure the tires will fit? I know that I could get bigger tires than that I have (as long as they fit my rims). So which numbers need to be right? I just want to look into possibly getting bigger tires for the X, just want to make sure I don't buy something that wont fit my current rims.

Thanks!

the "15" must be the same to fit your rim...that number means you have 15" rims. you could get 30x9.5x15, 31x10.5x15...255/70/15
(30 and 31 are inches...235 and 255 are metric sizes)

Hi!
Try a search for tire conversion chart, or something along those lines.
That will let you put in you metric tire size and see exactly what sized tires you have in inches, then you can compare to other tires whether they are metric or high flotation.
IIRC 235/75's are 29 inches and change high, by 8 inches and change wide. Maybe closer to 29 and a hlaf, by 8 and a half. Can't seem to remember exactly though.

That probably didn't answer you question directly, but it may lead you to find the answers.
You have a 15 inch rim, so in most cases, at least the cases that you'd need to know about, the last number of any tire will be the rim size, so always make sure that is 15.
example
235/75 R15
31X10.50 R15

I believe, and I could be wrong, but I believe that after 235/75 R15 there isn't much in the way of metric tires for a 15 inch rim. It goes to 30X9.5, 31X10.5, etc, etc.

whoops, I see bender gave you the short and quick (and correct!) answer while I was scripting my novella, lol.

just my 2 cents but i would stay away from 31's...some people fit them, some dont...some tires measure small and others big...i have 31 swampers and they measure a true 31...i also have 5 inches of lift in the front...still had to do some light trimming...could fit 33's with glass (hopefully soon)...i would say 30's just to be safe...you could always crank up the t-bars though and cram 31's...

well i dont plan on putting on oversized offroading type tires.. i do like having a bulkier look though - i hate the small skinny tires on an SUV. I want to find a set of tires that look good - could handle some light off roading but are also still great for street and don't screw with gas mileage much... any suggestions?

30x9.5x15 BFG AT's will fit the bill. A little bigger, they will fit the stock rims with no lift, & the tires are great all around.

pirelli scorpion a/t...go buy them now...i believe they make 30x9.5xr15
