Ok guys I need to know by the end of the day on a stock 16x7 rim will a 265/75r16 fit without trimming? TT shackles and AAL They are these tires they translate to 32.2x10.5x16. I have 3.73 LS gears will that be a problem? I know people with bigger tires like higher gears but I know nothing about that. I need to,know ASAP because I need new tires and will be ordering either these or 31s by the end of the day

you are on stock height, no lift or anything, you can get away with running 31". if you have a tt/shackle lift, you can get away with running 32-33" tires. trimming is particular to each vehicle. some will need it, some wont. some will need it like crazy. it just depends on the vehicle, tires and how your rig sits. 265/75r16 will fit if you have at least 2" of lift, but there is no standard answer to how much trimming you will need to do until you get the tires on. some people will need a little, some a lot, some not at all. im guessing you will need to do a little, but not too much. good luck

Thanks for the respone. I think I'm going to play it safe and get the 31s. It's my DD so no point in completely killing my MPGs.

Joe, I've run 265/75/16 on my 97 X with TT and shackles. I needed to trim the bottom corner off of the air dam and alittle bit off of the running board inside the wheel well. It took about 3 minutes, so I wouldnt worry to much if that's what your thinking. As for the gears I barely noticed a difference between them and the 31x10.50x15s on them now.

I would love to run 265/75s. I hav to wait until my deposit clears so I'll have more time to decide than I expected. Maybe I'll get the 265/75s and run spacers if needed.

No, the spacers would make it worse. It's the outside of the tires that hit while turning. Though like Lono said, it does vary by how your truck sits.

That makes sense....you don't have any pics of the trimming you did do you? I don't want to do anything major

I can take a picture of the trimming to the running board, but I took off the air damn awhile back. Whats your email?

well guys my parents decided to surprise me and tell me they are going to put in $ for me to get NEW new tires. so im going with 265/75r16 General grabber AT2s. (32x10.5x16) i guess its a good thing that deposit didnt clear yesterday lol

I'm refering to the plastic piece mounted to the bottom of the front bumper that goes around the fog lights. I think they changed the design between our years so I think the fogs are attached to yours. Some people call it a valance.

Joe, just noticed your in Jersey. Might be worth noting that the tires came out past the front fenders alittle bit. Not too bad but it took Middletown PD less than a half hour to bust my balls about it.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm not worried about it. Worst comes to worst I t to the j/Y and get some XLT flares and paint them my body color and glue them on :P

ok so im definately going with 265/75r16 tires but dumb ass me neglected to realize AT2s in that size are 10ply so im gonna look for a lighter tire. will update with what i decide on

Yeah, that does suck. BFG used to make an AT that was 8 ply, thats what I had. Looks like they don't make it anymore. You can get the BFG Rugged Trail and the General Grabber HTS in 6 ply , but they're no where near as aggressive as the AT2's. I've known people who have put 10 plys on small trucks, Tacoma's, Rangers, and such; other than a somewhat harsher ride they never complained. I'm not so sure that they would wear right without any real weight on them though, might be worth talking to a tire jockey about. Otherwise maybe try getting your hands on a set of 15's and just go with the 31's. I've got a set of American Racing Outlaw 15x8's on my Eddie Bauer with 31's, the offest really gives them an aggressive stance for their size and the 8" width helps keep alittle more tread on the ground with the wider tires.

I would KILL for a set of your wheels. But it's not in the budget right now :( so I'm going with 265/75r16 definity Dakota AT2 from pepboys. 8 ply and price is right

Sounds good. Pepboys tires are made by Cooper arent they?

Yep made by cooped tread is identical to BFG. and I got 6 ply so they are light
