I have an '04 EB with 17" wheels and was wondering what would be the best tire i could put on my vehicle. I was looking for something that would handle well in snow and some moderate offroad situations. (mostly flat farm area)

Looking at 265/65/17, any suggestions on a tire brand?

I have general grabber at/2s and they do amazing in all types of weather the treads wearing pretty good check them out there like 130 a tire for stock 245/65/17s

Thanks i will have to check them out

255/65/17 would be a good size if you dont plan on lifting... fills in the wheel well, but still allows for some travel without rubbing

just my thought

I will be getting some 265/70/17 but i plan on getting lift spacers. maybe some 33s if they will fit after the btf spacer lift

for 33's with spacers only, i think you would need some wheel spacers + some wheelwell trimming...

Thanks for the info! Yeah i dont really plan on lifting anytime soon. Just looking for a beefy tire that would help in snow and mud. My friend just bought an xterra with general grabbers on it. I think thats what i might go with.

I have an 04 EB also, I went with the Bridgestone Dueller AT Revo's, nice agressive tread & still quiet. A little pricey, but I have 40k on them already and still have plenty of rubber left on them.

Cool, I've looked at those as well. Its going to be either the grabbers, duellers, or geolanders. I'm going to do a little bit more research before i make a decision. What size dueller did you end up going with?

I would go with Sam's Club's Goodyear Wrangler Armor Trac in 245/65/17

u like those tires? r they quiet? im gonna b in the market for tires soon too.

I just got them today they are quieter than my old highway tires (goodyear tracker 2). They were rated good from someone else with an explorer
GoodYear Armor Trac Review
Bought these to replace my Fortera HL's on the 4x4 Explorer. These have superior winter traction and grip. GREAT IN SNOW. Excellent ride quality. Low noise. Best SUV tires I have ever had. Look rugged on the truck too. Highly reommended. Quick installation at local Sam's club.
That review convinced me

good. i like that they have good snow traction. its fun here i michigan durrig the winter. i might add these tires to the list when it comes time to make a purchase

nate, how much did those cost ? they look really aggressive !

I think it was $123.00 a piece. About $820 total

Damn mount, and balance cost you 320 $ ????

wow didnt think it cost that much, but then again i didnt have to buy a new set of tires for my 03, cause it was totalled, and my 05 came with fresh brandnew tires 6 months ago...

I have an 04 Eddie Bauer as well, I was going to put on the Dueler Revo2's in the 245/65/17.
However, I decided to lift the truck just before I bought the tires, and went to something slightly larger and more aggressive.

I paid 1150.00 for 4 tires after taxes, mounting/balancing and the Ontario tire tax, I think the mount/balance was only $12 per tire for me.

in michigan i mounted Michelin LTX AT2's. . .245/75-17's.
Great in the snow, dirt, rain, haven't been in mud often. Good road manners, they have some noise with the window down. Primary reason why i bought these is the last set i owned on the heep lasted about 70-80k, 8-9yrs old and still had 4/32's left. I had to replace them due to worn ball joints cupping one, plus two bead leaks due to rim corrosion. Longest tires i've ever owned and there have been a few sets. . .

Another suggestion since i have the AWD setup, i got 5 tires mounted for $1k. With AWD they say you should rotate every 5k miles, and if you lose a tire you should replace all 4 or you could burn up the viscous clutch. With 5 tires in the rotation, if i lose one say at half life, i can switch over to a 4 tire rotation and not buy the 4 new ones.
