OK, I saw the tire chart, but it seems this is for clearance only. What about bumping up otherwise?

I know rule of thumb is one step up in tire width (ie 75 to 70) allows one step up in diameter (ie 235 to 245) and no speedo changes required, etc.

On a stock 96 4wd, 4dr, what sizes fit the wheel wells without a problem and without mods? I do a lot of towing, so anything that changes final ratio to the road will cause me problems, but I could use more tracktion off road.... How wide can it go and at what diameter??

I also do this towing on the hiway, so I'm going to compromise with ride quality concerns too, but the extra width may help, with a good tread pattern.

PS - stock alum wheels 15 inch.

you can fit 30X9.50 without a problem and you should be able to fit 31X10.50's but they might rub. Its different on every truck. If you want like a 1 or 2 inch lift try cranking up your tortion bars up front and for the back do shackles or add-a-leaf.They are only like 25 bucks a piece and keep your rear up when towing.

Glad I can help, but alot of people have made these posts before so u can search for them and find them without making another post on it. Thanks,Matt

oh, and i do have 31's on the stock rims if you are interested for sale. They are Dueler M/T's. Have like 5 or 6 thousand miles on them.

For towing help and a bit of lift, go with addaleaf. Extended shackles are more likely to contribute to leaf sag.

That is if you want a bit of lift.
