I just snagged a used set of BFG all terrain 31x10.50x15's. 2 have about 90% while the other 2 have 65 to 70% or so. He said his truck wore faster in the front. I wasnt sure how explorers wear treads. Should i put the good ones up front or in the back?

Most vehicles in general wear faster in the front unless your roasting tires with a rear drive car. You always want to put better tires in the front. Rotate as needed.

Ditto.. Fronts "normally" wear faster.. and nomrally on the edges..

The rears "can" wear faster if you have an auto locking rear Diff.. We have a detroit rear and I was lazy this time around.. never rotated the tires front to back until recently.. and the rears wore about 30-50% faster than the fronts..

if the front tread is feathered, its time to rotate them to the rear, then jsut keep rotating every 5k miles

I thought so, i just had a set the used set put on at the shop and told them that and he said yeah. I get home and the better set is on the back, not the front like i wanted. I guess i gotta get the jack out.

I just check the tires i took off, they have like 8-10k and i had not rotated them yet. It appears as if the tires that had more tread are worn around the edges like a front tire would wear. The tires with less tread are worn evenly, no cupping or anything. Is it possible the rear tires are wearing faster than the front. I had 40psi in them at all times. Its not like i'm roasting them, as i'm sure any of you with a 4.0 explorer realize its definitely not a burnout machine haha.
