Unfortunatly my Dueler REVOs i loved so much have fallen victim to the much talked about poor mileage wear and with the first snow fall on the ground I will need some new tires. To help my wallet (I will be selling my ex next fall) I have chosen the General Grabber AT2 is 265/70/16. Also, I think it may be a good time to buy some nice off road rims. I wanted something in black that will match my black ex. I like the mojave's but they are a bit expensive. The crager our nice as well. any ideas? also, what is the exact size I would want in the cragers? I am stupid when it comes to backspacing, and such. Maybe this should be in the tire/wheel area but since 3rd gens are just starting to get lifted it seems as though mostly 1st and 2nd gens are getting the off road tires in that area and more are posting here. Oh yeah one more thing I will be getting the coil spacers from road bully after winter as well.

Thanks

Just curious, if you're selling it next Fall, why all the o/r investments (and possible damage to the vehicle from going o/r)?

Just get black steelies 16x8 and 265/70/16 ATs since it's only for a year...

good question, well I am the type of person that all though I am selling it, want to enjoy it while I have it. Plus, I may end up keeping it in the fall and buy myself a german sedan depending on what prices are like come fall. I would then just keep it for winter driving. I currently have 265's on it now, and have always been planning on doing the lift so I guess the wheels are really the only additional investment I would be making. I hate the fact that I have to get tires now, I loved the traction and look of the REVO bit with them being 3/4 worn after just 30k miles I am a bit unhappy. I figure if I can get another 40k miles on a set of grabbers (they have a 60k warranty) it will last me a while. i guess it may seem stupid that I am putting this money into it at this stage but I have taken great care of it so far and figure it can only give me more fun and can only help my resell if/when the time comes...

oh and the reason for off road rims... in cleveland you only have about 3-4 months of pothole-less roads and if I decide to keep it and buy a sedan thsi will become my winter and off road toy.

Check out the Goodyear Silent Armors... They look similar to the Revos.

what is the rim size I should be looking for? I dont mid if the tire sticks out a bit. I see the black steel ones from crager are cheap but I dont know about which size I should get

I only know the minimum is 16"; max width of 8"...

I had real good results in the snow with BFG all terrainn k/o's. Had them on my CJ-7 V-8 powered Jeep, F-150 4x4 and F-250 4x4 trucks lived in the mountains of Md. Went through lots of snow no problems. The tires wore really well and were also good in the mud.My 03 X still has the Mich. cross terrains from the factory on it only 30,000 miles still going strong.Living in snow free Florida now .

you need a 16 x 8 with anything between 38P and 0 offset. You can go to -12 offset, but the wheels will stick out. Offset and backspace are related. so as long as you get these offsets, the backspace will look after itself.

xtoolmaker...I love the BFG's as well but they are double the price
Jcuz...Thanks for the measurements, I wouldnt mind a bit of an offset, although only enough to align with the fender. What about bolt pattern, I know I have 5 bolts, but I think I should be looking at the spacing too right? Sorry for the newbie questions but I've never been able to get wheel specs

bolt pattern is 5x4.5

OK, well I have spent the past 4 hours doing research online and reading the 20+ pages of road bullys posts and I have decided I will get new tires, and the RB coil spacer lift, but I see most people also get 1.5" wheel spacers with the stock rims so the wheels stick out a bit farther with the lift which is what I want. Does this sound right? any suggestions where I should get my wheel spacers? I saw them on ebay for $60 for two. Thank you everyone for your help.

Yup, that's right, there are some people running wheel spacers,
I don't think I've heard any bad reviews about them on here...
I went with new rims to get the same result, but not nearly as cost effective.
Let me know when you're ready to go with those spacers and we'll get you hooked up.
I'm pretty sure quite a few guys on here are running the wheel spacers from ebay, just make sure you get the "hub centric" ones.

Cheers

Ben

I'm running the 1.5" hub adapters, and ktford has my old 1" hub adapters. Both lots were from ebay in the good ol' US of A - even with postage to Oz, they were cheaper for the set than I could buy 2 for here. 1.5" with 265s and 7" rim has the edge of the tyre even with the guard. I will be fitting my 17x8s with Cooper STT 265/70/17s on Wednesday, so will let you know how far they stick out (they should be OK, I think).

As RB says, make sure you get the hub centric adapters, and not just spacers, and just get the ones that suit mustang & explorer.
