tires and lift

Hello, I am new to this and would like some help with my explorer. I have an 03 2WD XLT Explorer, stock everything. I wanna put some of road terrain tires on it, and a lift. First question, would BF Goodrich All-Terrain tires look pretty good, cause I dont want huge tires like grapplers or somethin. And what size?
Also, a lift? What would be the best way? I dont want it huge just good lookin. I saw someone had a 3in. lift and it looked really nice. Body lift or Suspension lift? I also saw something about spacers? What would be the best for the best price?
