TO ALL People w/ 5.5' lift X's Need Input!!!!!

yup, bought it off sirhk100. I will be selling it for about the same when I phase everything out of my truck. Except mine will have all new parts care of superlift. I installed it myself, so that saved me 350 right there. thats what 4wheelparts wanted to rape me of.

chew, I'll try to let you know when I sell it if you haven't gotten one yet. I could even help you install it to save you some bread. I will post it in the for sale forum when its ready. Yours is 4x4 right?

I know a couple people who have the Superlift and stand by it as well. One of them however is on his third drop bracket, all free, all re designed. I also believe its his second set of radius arms. But it works great now!

I have never heard of similar problems with the Skyjacker kit......

If you know a welder Superlift may be Okay. Not sure of the pricing difference btwn Skyjacker and SL.

My buddy with a 97 Ranger had taken note of all the problems our other friend had and wen't and had his lift reinforced (welded and gusseted) before he put it on. It's been at least 3 years and some other broken parts on the truck but nothing to do with anything from the lift.

Skip em both and just go solid axle. :) Same relative cost in the end. Except you probably will spend less time swapping out parts.

I agree the solid axle conversion is also an option.
To do it right however can cost alot! I mean by the time I would be done with teh D44 I would have $2500 in just the axle alone (discs, 4.10's, ARB, custom length pass side, ball joints, steering, etc...)

Plus the solid axle is not for everybody, I cant imagine driving a D44 BII on the street with a 3500# boat in tow.........I'll stick with my TTB for a few more years.........

It all depends on what you want to use the truck for, sounds to me like a Skyjacker or Duff lift is right up your alley.

Also remember you can always buy the stage one lift and add the extended radius arms later.
With an Explorer I would just doa springover in the rear and a possible shackle if you need more lift.....skip the block or ad a leaf.........

I have about $1800 worth of parts in the front of my TTB. That is without a front locker. Its also with all the bearings and grease and any other minor thing that you have to purchase ALL the time. Personally I think you can do a solid front axle for cheap. I think when you start from scratch the costs are VERY close. In the end with the amount of upkeep and time and care involved in the TTB you come out way ahead with the solid axle. Plus everyone that has done the SAS has said the same thing about the driveablity afterwards. Its better then with the TTB.

As far as the cost of the axle, I think your forgeting about the EB axle. They are out there... They may not be the "best" solution but anything is better then the ttb.

Oh yeah here is a story for ya... :)

The other night my radius arm nut fell off once again. Don't have any idea where it went... Second time that's happened. Thats with some serious hard core street driving! Just imagine what happens when you take it off road... LOL I have lost that same nut off-road too. :)

If skyjacker made a 5.5 lift i would definaltly get it. But SL are the only people

sKYJACKER MAKES A 6" LIFT, SAME THING.

Your Superlift radius arm nut keeps falling off? Do you lose the bushing? hahahaha!
Time for some lock tight.

the driveability with the d44 depends greatly on your setup, obviously coils ride better then leafs.......

EB D44's are ususally a ton more $$$ then say one from a F-250, its not that expensize to have it cut down at the same time as the gears, locker, ball joints, etc.....
If you pull it yourself you can get them for $100.......

Yup, lost the bushing. It had a locknut on there that was on tight. The only reason it fell off was due to loosing a weight on the wheel which made it bounce big time. So... :)

Either way axles in the yards are cheap from what I have seen. You may have to look but I know they would be cheaper then dealing with this TTB crap.

Do you plan on doing a lot of wheeling????
If you don't plan on doing a lot of wheeling I think the superlift is o.k. but if you plan on doing any moderate type wheeling save the money and go with a straight axle. Mine worked fine for maybe the first year, but now I'm starting to replace parts and you have to keep tighting stuff up that comes loose.
Go for the straight axle........
