I just bought an 03 Explorer XLS in Mineral Gray four-door with the sport package.

Until I get a car port installed to the back of our garage, I will park outside as my wife has to get up and commute in the morning. I have the time to shovel snow and scrape ice off windows.

I have used Blue Coral Auto Fom, Meguiars Polymer Sealant and Nu Finish in the past. The Nu Finish seemed to last longer. It was not as shiny, but it beaded the water for the longest and kept dirt from sticking.

I want to make sure the finish is protected before this winter. I don't care to use the most exotic uber finish out there for show cars, I want protection and durability.

Is Nu Finish a good choice for protection? Consumer Reports said so a few years back.

What in the heck is in Nu Finish? There is no wax. Is it silicone, urethane or other synthetic?

Nu Finish is like the poorboy's version of Klasse and Zaino. Nu Finish is made of polymers instead of natural canauba waxes so that's why it lasts a lot longer than others. If you choose that route and want some shine, try putting some on there and get a bottle of Maguiar's #26 or S100 to top it off. If you really really want the most professionally looking detail, spend some money and get some Klasse or Zaino. I strongly urge you to go to the most awesome detailing site. They will tell you everything about detailing. Good luck!!

Gotta agree w/Zaino. My Cad. sits out all winter and Zaino lasts throught the winter. It looks better than any car that was waxed and garaged through the winter. Initial cost is higher than most but the "per serving" cost is reasonable cause it takes very little (1/2 oz) to do a car.
Just the best & longest lasting stuff I have used in 30+ yrs. of polishing vehs.
