OK, guys check out my pics and help me figure out how to save the paint on my doors before it all gets torn off. The wider tires and rims are kicking rocks all over the side of my car. What should i do to help this? I was thinking splash guards--- but i had to trim inside my fenderwell because my tires would rub at full turn when i hit a bump so wouldnt i have to trim the splash guards too? i figure that'll look like crap.

Any suggestions please let me know!

Thanks!!

splashguards would not last too long with you goin over things and stuff...they will get knocked off..i would just throw some herculiner on it.

Yeah. I'm going to say 'or not to spashguard' on this one. Less is more! :D

Like Patrick said.. Herc it (if you care about looks that much :D ) Or maybe that plastic film them Alaskans stick on their hoods!?

If you herc it..make sure to PM GJarret and ask him how to do it, he kind of taught everyone else the ins and outs of doing it. I am sure he can give you some good advice and tell you excatly what not to do. Whatever you do, just make sure to PM him and ask him how to apply it to the hootus. That is just a really tricky and hard part to do..good luck man.

that film Alaskan's put on their hoods? huh? You got me lost, and I've lived here my whole life :D

you could always go with Herculinter, Line-X, or even the DupliColor truck bed coating is decent stuff and cheaper. Got the hood and brush guard on my B2 painted with that.. will soon have the whole truck painted with it

So are you guys telling me to actually paint my doors with something? Isn't that going to look bad- or is it clear? And how expensive is it? (im on a tight budget after doing my lift and tires now)

i was thinking if there was another type of fender flares or something i could put on that would solve the problem...

woops..i just noticed that you have grey rockers. You might just want to put your step bars back on, they would block a good bit of stuff.

but i like the look without the rockers :(

One thing i just thought of is kind of making my own mud flap... but one that doesnt hang down any lower- i could herculine a piece of sheep metal thats cut to angle from the outer edge of my fender flare inwards towards my body... i guess it would only have to go back a foot or so.... how does something like that sound? (or if i could fine it id just use a heavy duty black rubber)

I would just try whatever works and still looks good to you. I am sure there are more than a few D.I.Y. type fixes...good luck man.

Patrick

you could always just put on lots and lots of layers of clear coat

I might have to put my step bars back on.... has anyone thought of drilling new holes in the brackets so they dont hang down so low?

are there no fender cut-out flares for the 98 Sports yet?
