Too high of impedance?

Ok, I've looked for the answer to this and can't find it:
I know that series wiring will raise the impedance, while parallel setups will drop it. Drop it too low, and your amp/headunit will not work.
What happens is you raise the impedance? It draws more amps doesn't it?
Will this be bad for a HU?
I ask because I was wondering about the possibility of running more than one speaker on a channel.
Do you have to have an amp to do this, or can it be done with an aftermarket HU?
Any input is appreciated.
 






Higher impedence = less resistance = less amps drawn = less wattage = less sound

opposite for low impedence....
