divorced a '93 Explorer
Hey people! Recently acquired a '93 Explorer and like it except that it seems to eat a lot of gas for the engine size. It also is gutless at higher elevations (trips to Colorado). I recently saw the TornadoAir web site, and while it looks like a decent idea, it seems to restrict rather than help airflow. Does anyone have any experience that they can pass on before I load my credit card? Great site, lots of good info!

Mark, you need to take advantage of the "Search" feature on this forum before wasting your money on that. Do a search for "tornado" and you will get links to at least a dozen previous discussions on this.

Hope that helps.

It seems like Mike91 may have an opinion on that subject,...go on Mike, don't hold back....Dead Link Removed

I have it in my 1992 Explorer and would have to agree. POS...... Not worth the 70.00 bucks

Thanks for the input, much appreciated. While I should use the "search" feature to address this, I will say that since buying this vehicle that its had a clunking in the steering column. It recently got worse (wife called saying the front-end was falling apart) so I tore into it thinking the upper bearing was shot. NOPE! They rubber riveted a big chunk of lead inside the horn pad to the steering wheel, and the rubber rivets were torn, allowing the lead weight to clunk back and forth!! WTF were they thinking? Are we so weak that we need help rotating the tilt column into position??
Funny.thought I would share :-)

Actually yes I am very weak.
I got beat up yesterday by a Koala bear.

I agree with everyone in saying the Tornado is a POS. Take that $70 and go get a set of Bosch +4 or NGK plugs and a set of Splitfire or Jacobs wires. You'll really feel the difference.

I purchased 2 and have mixed opinions...

the first one was for my Explorer with the stock intake and I got about 1.5 mpg out of it after resetting the ECU. My second one was for the same truck after I added a supercharger(I couldn't use the same one due to different size piping) with the 2nd one I didn't see any "worthwhile" gains in mpg. That's my personal experience with it. I was comparing notes with a guy who had a '92 with the same stock setup as mine, same ECU # but he said he didn't get anything out of it so he returned it. I can't explain that but I can only relay my findings

I've read everything on the tornado site...the theory is pretty cool...but it looks awful cheesey for 70 smackers. If you want my .02 worth add 20 bucks and get a KKM!
Oh yeah, welcome to the site Mark!
Since you're name is "Snow Lover", would ya please read this post and tell me what ya think?

Last I knew KKM's were more that $90...

and I wouldn't buy one anyway. Just drill the lower half or remove it completely.
