I'v heard a few roomers that if i give my 1992 explorer 4.0', automatic 4 speed w/od, over 230 horses, that my torqe converter will over expand on high exelaration and make contact with the flywheel resulting in posibly me missing a foot or two. Is this true,if you can set this roomer strait i wood realy apritiate it.
 






IMO, in an early X I would swap out the TC if you have over 200hp. Get a really beefy one. There are ones available with different specs based on your needs. Talk to a good tranny shop in your area about how you use your truck and they can recommend one to you.

Torque convertor "ballooning" is an effect of trans fluid pressure and not engine horsepower. Faulty valve body or plugged oil cooler can cause ballooning.

I'd be a little more concerned about how long that A4LD will last with 200+ ponies to look after.
