Does anyone know if the TC receives fluid from transmission and fills or is it a separate unit and must be changed by removal/installation? 2001 Eplorer XLT 4.0l AWD, 5R55 transmission, also if anyone knows capacity of TC? TIA!!!

With initial start of 5 quarts or so of fluid, the eng is started and at idle the transmission's pump fills the torque converter. Questions about "trapped air" in it are ridiculous; since it's spinning, and is filled via the center (input) shaft, the oil "adheres" to the outside inner walls, like a Hoffmeister's Rotor, until the converter housing is full.

TY I thought it refilled as fluid came out input shaft when pulled off TC but wasn't 100, as read some TC do not fill via transmission.
