Torque Converter

Hello and greetings from Taiwan,

I have recently bought a 94 Explorer 4x4 Eddie Bauer (4 Door).

Unfortunately, the transmission doesn't change from 1st to 2nd properly (a long delay and rpm up to 3500 before changing). I think the problem is with the torque converter (its rattling).

Am I right in thinking that the 94 Exp only had a A4LD transmission?

Also, I am trying to buy a new/recond Torque Converter from the USA, however I am having trouble finding a company that will send by UPS / FeDEX overseas. Can anyone suggest a company?

The rattle or knock is probably a cracked flex plate and it would not be the source of your 1st to 2nd shift problem. If you have access to a bore scope that will help you determine if it is cracked or not. Removing the starter will give you access to make the assessment.
