Torque Converter?

Hello all!
I hope some of the tranny gurus my be able to help me out. I have a 2000 sport w/4.0 SOHC auto (5R55E). My rig was cold, just left house, when tranny hit 3rd gear engine free reved. I have no gears at all. No forward or reverse. I replaced Valve body, Sep. plate, and gasket. new filter and fluid ect. I still have no gears, just seems like neutral. When running engine inside garage at moment of turn off you can hear a slight ringing sound from rear of engine. Could this be a spun torque converter? I am in the process of pulling the tranny now any help would be great. Thanks!

Converter bolts, broke flywheel, bad trans oil pump, lack of fluid, or trans wiring harness issues are what comes to my mind first. I would pay attention to these things before you pull the tranny apart. If the PCM can't tell the shift solenoids what to do, I would think that could cause sudden serious problems.

I had these symtoms exactly, the small ring gear inside my front pump was broken in three places....not sure if that's your problem...but thought I'd mention it.
