hey so heres the story so far,

my 1996 explorer limited 4x4 5.0 V8 is leaking transmission fluid from the dust cap underneath the torque converter (between the tranny and oil pan)
i thought that the plug was mangled(which it was) so i replaced it but it is still doing the same thing
it leaks a little bit when im driving around but not overly bad, but as soon as i stop and turn the car off it leaks alot more almost pouring out for about 10-15 seconds after and then it will stop and not leak until i start it up agian
the vehicle sat for a year and a bit without being turned on once so im thinking maybe the torque converter seal is gone or the pump seal? any ideas?

also, i know to replace the two seals the transmission must be fully taken out correct? anyone have a DIY on replacing the seals or removing the tranny? Im pretty good with cars ive taken engines apart and pulled them before
any help is apprecated
chris
