I have a 99 Explorer Sport and i plan on putting four door leaf springs in the back along with blocks to level and maybe lift the SUV. I was considering using a Tosion Twist to lift the front if needed to match the height of the rear. I would like to know if anyone has any objects to using the Torsion Twist and if anyone has had or heard of anyone having problems with this sort of lift. Please e-mail me with any comments, suggestions, or special procudures concerning this Torsion Twist. Thanks

and tarred/feathered

yea you might just get a lil burnt for asking that question...and all you have to do is take a rachet and lots of pb blaster and crank the torsion bars and in the back you have to do shackles...you cant use a block, that will lower your explorer and the object as you say is to lift it....but do a search on 2nd generation lifts....

The write up didn't show and i have some t-bar concerns. could you post it again or send it to me? thank, chris

There is no write up, just 2 pictures that are pretty much self explanitry(SP)......

I already did the 3" body lift to my ranger and 33s, but now i want to level it out and figured this would be the easiest way to do it. I lucked out and my torsion bars are stock "B". My first measurements are 38 1/4" on both sides. I think I'm gonna go to 39 on both sides and call it quits. Wish me luck.

Oh and thanks for showing me which bolts to turn.

I have a 99 Explorer 4 Door AWD 5.0L and I olny want to lower the front 1". My Question is would I still need a camber kit if I'm only going an inch. And also can I do this on the ground or should it be on a lift.

It can be done on the ground. It would be best to add the camber adjusters as well.

Good luck .......

It should be done on the ground with the suspension fully loaded, measure, drop it, take it for a ride, go over some speed bumps at diff angles.
Come back measure again and adjust if needed, do the above again.
with only 1 inch camber adjusters may not be needed, have the alignment checked, than go from there

thanks guys, i got it done and it looks great, apreciate the help

Is there a risk of the shackles breaking while towing and do you have to change the rearend when putting on 31s 0r 32s

nope.. the shackles are forged or cast can't remember.. In regards to gearing, it depends on your axle ratio. If its 3.27 or 3.55 you may want to but its up to you.

were stock ratios different between models - i have a 96 xlt

I got a quarter inch from mine... thats it :(

I just read this whole thread and can't believe how many people that have NO CLUE are playing with there trucks. If you have NO CLUE have a friend that HAS A CLUE help you..... jeeze. Nothing like asking the same question over and over and over and over.....<<<I could go on forever with this. Before asking any questions do a search or start at page one of this thread. I think any question that COULD BE ASKED has been answered 10 times already!.

For Sweden also ?

For the UK they decided to fit self-leveling rear suspension. So we have air shocks on the rear only and Export spec front shocks- whatever they are !. So on our x's only the rear goes up and down but only to compensate for the load and it is not adjustable. IE there is no movement when you go to 4x4 Low all it does is stop the rear sag when you load her up. Hope this helps.

Do you know if they did it with Deutch Explorers also ?. Having serious problems when turning my Explorer to the left mostly, and to the right now and then. Got worse after hitting a bump !. FEELS like there is something serious wrong with the steering and there is a noise sounding from the steering wheel (under beneath)?. Feels like the car is jumping when stearing harder to the left or right. ( My car is imported from Deutchland to Sweden ).
Ford in Sweden said it was a problem that was bounded to the cars and couldnt be fixed !. I do not belive so....Is it true ?
What shall i do to fix it ?. Anyone knows ?. Ford Explorer Aut, transm. 4.0 -97

Okay I am confused, is there one bolt to raise both bars or one bolt for each side?

Never mind i figured it out by the picture on the first post, one of my eyes must not have been working properly...sorry
