Can somebody please tell me how to do the torsion bar twist? I remember seeing an article telling how to do it, but I don't remember where it is.
As you can tell I'm new here. Thanks!
Black 95,
The page that Ryan suggested is pretty thorough. If you need any part numbers for a torsion upgrade try page 2 of my web page below. I went with a stiffer set up front because I have a grill guard and can get more lift with less twist. I also purchased longer swaybar links from the dealer for a little more travel off road.
I assume you've also got a Black 95 model Explorer which means you have great taste in vehicles too! Dead Link Removed

They should be easy to find now. Warrior is a well known Jeep aftermarket supply company. Our shackles are now in their supplier catalog. You should be able to go to any decent 4wd shop in your area and have them order the shackles for you.

"What the heck is he doing out here in that thing???"
Hey thanks for the reply gjarrett, but I am over in Germany right now for the next couple of years and there are no 4x4 shops here. Is there anywhere on the web to order them? thanks
Is it possible to get more lift out of the "torsion twist" if you pull out the bars and turn them a few degrees before you re-insert them? (Is that even possible? I did that to my old civic to lower it.) I don't have 4x so I wouldn't be worried about the CV joint angles but I would imagine it would cause a camber problem though.
Black95, I know that Desert Rat www.desertrat.com supplied many of the first Warrior shackles to Explorer owners when they first came out. I do not see it on their website though. Possibly you could call them, get the info from them, and then use their website order form to purchase the shackles from them.
Harry, your idea should work in theory. I had to do exactly what you described to my left torsion bar because the factory inserted it 1/6th turn off and I could not raise my front until I removed the bar and reinserted it correctly.
Would putting an add-a-leaf on a single leaf spring with Warrior shackles put too much stress on it? (make it unsafe) Has anyone attemped such a setup?
Black95,
The best I can do for you is, here are the part numbers for the Warrior shackles. Part #153 if you want the gray hammer tone Part #353 if you want gold/zinc anodized.
click on the link that Gerald has on his post and either email them what you want or use the order form and fax it to them. When I got mine it cost me $34.99 plus $13.00 shipping. I don't have any idea how much it will cost you for shipping. Hope this helps
