Ok I am going to put on B rated bars. A couple questions though.
First off how do I remove old ones and replace them?
Second if anyone has done this, how much did you pay for the bars, and did you buy them from Ford??
Thanks for everything.

The bars are around $80 a piece last time I checked. You'll need a Ford tool to remove the bars. I think that is $30.

Cynthia I paid about 70 bucks apiece for them
just last month from fuller ford . just so you know they will make you ride alot stiffer Alot Stiffer I like it that way
some people dont though . Good Luck

:)

do you have to buy the special tool from ford or can you get it from any auto parts store? how long did it take and is it very complicated?

According to my haynes manual the special tool is just a two jaw puller with an adjustable bridge to prevent the jaws from spreading apart. These should be available at any decent tool shop. Hope this helps.

is it very hard to change them out yourself? what X's come with "B" rated torsion bars stock? i want to find some off of a wrecked one if they are still good but i don't know which one's have them

See if this helps

Any of the pullers you find at an auto shop won't work. We tried two seperate pullers, one pullers jaws bent open and the other kept spreading apart from the force. You are best off getting the tool or using a long pin or bolt at least 8" to raise the adjuster enough to remove the support nut with a jack.

The hardest part is retensioning the bar, holding it and getting the support nut in there without it popping out of the seat. Learn from my experience, get the tool.

It's not very hard, but a real pain in the ass.

T-bars are cake to remove. All i used was a big 2 jawed gear puller to get them out. I just followed the instructions in my chiltons manual and everything went fine. I removed the t-bars on my old truck and on my new one and no problems.

Here is the puller I use whenever I need to remove my torsion bars:

Yup I used the same thing as robert but mine isnt as shiney :D

i use a jack placed under the adjustor to lift it up and slide out the plate, then let the jack back down so the torsion bar hangs. its easier, faster, but probably not safe for some reason? i dunno...
