I've swapped back to my old back bumper and fitted the ford tow bar..

problem I've got now is I ain't got a clue how to wire it up, I need to get this done by 11am cos I've gotta drive down south to tow my car back home and I'll need to plug in the signal board for the back..

Does anyone know where to plug all the plugs??

I think there's 4 plugs (2 either side) and some earth wires

Is your Explorer a UK-spec or a US-spec Explorer?

-Joe

There should be a plug type connector hanging behind the bumper, that is wired up ready to go i believe. However how you connect all of those connectors to this one plug, i don't know.

My guess would be that the wiring will reach to the connectors they're supposed to be plugged into. However, I have no idea... I don't have access to the euro-spec schematics... Judging from the looks of it, there are two tee-connectors there... i.e. you'll take whatever connector they plug into, separate it, and plug one half of the vehicle's wiring into one of the connectors, and connect the other half of the vehicle's connector into the other half of the trailer connector... make sense?

If I was a bettin' man, I'd guess that those connectors are going to be in the trailer lighting harness, but I have no idea where that's going to be on yours... On the US vehicles, it's up behind the driver's side tail light, but I have no idea on yours... Probably wouldn't be tough to find out... keep your eyes peeled for another Explorer in the parking lots... there's bound to be one here or there.

Also, any Ford dealer over there should be able to pull up the schematics and, therefore, the locations of the connectors. If they pull up the trailer light schematics, it should show the associated connector(s) on the diagrams.

Wish I could be more help....

Another thought: There's some writing on that plug assembly.... if you can make out a brand name, they may have a web site (or at the very least a phone number) where you can obtain a copy of the installation instructions. That's probably where I'd start....

It's a brink/Ford, I'm taking it back off tomorrow and it's going on ebay.. can't be bothered anymore!

Don't worry mate, It's a tow bar for the old bumper, I've updated the back end and the tow bar won't fit the new bumper.

I'm gonna put the old bumper and tow bar on ebay and get shut..

Thanks for all your help guys, couldn't tow back my mondeo anyway, it's too low and the cradle would've just ripped off the front bumper..

just for reference those plugs on mine go to sockets on the rear left hand corner behind the bumper guess theres a bit missing on yours because you coulden,t miss em

unless they've been tucked up somewhere, If it's dry tomorrow I'm taking it all back off and putting my coloured bumper back on.

I forgot to take the step off the back bumper so couldn't tow the car home anyway..

Nevermind.. there's gonna be some explorer parts going on ebay this week I think
