good chain story. i was 15 yrs old, and father and i were trying to pull-start a very large/old International deisel tractor. open, no cab. im on the tractor, father is in 76 F-150 4x4. we were using a logging chain. got it rolling, and when i dumped the clutch, the chain broke right at the trucks bumper. snapped back, hit me in the chin, face, and right ear. split my chin WIDE open (doctor said 2 inches higher and i would have dentures now), had long scar down the side of my face for quite a while, and nearly tore my ear off. scar is gone on face, still have a small one on my chin, and a lump in the top of my ear that is still there. do yourself a favor, and get a 3" strap and forget about the chain. i have a 3" rated for 40k lbs, and unless you get it hung on something to cut it, its not gonna break. it was used once to pull out chevy w/44 boggers with a log skidder, and didnt break. if that didnt break it, i dont think i will.
