Hi, I'm the new guy.

Just got a '98 4X4. Automatic trans. We want to tow it behind our diesel motorhome. I know it needs a Ford neutral kit installed. With that, it can tow four flat on the ground with a tow bar setup. Question is: can I tow it on a tow dolly after getting the kit installed? As in, the front wheels on the tow dolly and the rears on the ground? I already have a tow dolly, and don't relish spending another $1000 on a baseplate/tow bar setup. Plus a brake system...

Experts?

Thanks!

Don't quote me on this, but I would imagine you could do that. The neutral kit allows the truck to be flat towed with no problem, so I don't see how using a dolly would make a difference.

Yes, if they make a neutral tow kit for it, you can tow with just the rears down or all fours. You *can* tow it without the neutral tow kit in a bind: Tranny in neutral, engine running. The bearings in the back of the trans are lubed by the fluid pump driven off the input shaft. As long as the engine stays running, the bearings stay wet.
