I have a 1996 Ford Explorer where the light wiring isnt working. I had to get an adapter from the installed round connection to a 4 flat. I have heard that I may need a special relay-but the local Ford dealers dont know what I am talking about.

Any suggestions???? Thanks

Hey Walley, I had the same problem with my 97 X when I got it last summer. I tried to hookup an adapter wiring kit for the 4 prong wires. I ended up having the wrong one for osme reason, you have to make sure yo uhave one for you exact vehicle, even though I had a 96/97 one, I had to get another one with a certain amount of prongs showing in the round part. Sorry I'm not much help, but yo umigh tneed ot order a new adapter. Check out the prongs in the male and female parts of the adapters. (You can also test for powe rusing a voltmeter)

Thanx Jester, I just went up to a local parts store I forgot about and he just ordered me an adapeter. Just as you said, I had to give him my make, model, and year so I'd get the right one. FIgured that one I got for the ranger would work when I first got it, but I've just realized you have to me real specific when it comes to these kinds of things.
But I'll have my adapter tomarrow morning for $12. Good to know I don't have to d/c my brake lines and mess with all that crap now :D .

P.S.: Isn't it wierd that a lot of times you see some1 post a prob their having on the board and very soon after they post, someone else posts their prob over the exact (or very simular) same thing. Like with this and the A/C posts too.
