Please tell me this isn't just a rumor...I want 35" Superswampers on my white 99 Lmtd more than my next breath of air! Having been told there are no post-1994 lift kits for explorers, my offroading dreams seeped through my fingers like fine sand in the wind.
Somebody PUH-LEEZE tell me this Trailmaster lift is more than just a rumor and that I can expect to be in heaven with my new swampers and lifted suspension/body early this December.

Hey Bear,
From what Rick has found out, YES Trail Master is coming out with a lift for the 98-00 year models. That's good for you, but not good for me. I have a 97, but I'm hopeful that maybe I can get one of these modified to fit my 97. We'll just see and hope alot. Dead Link Removed

The Trailmaster Lift is going to run over $2000. What a joke. Dependable off-raod in Orange County, Ca has a lift that they modified from a 1998 Ranger Lift that works and they are selling installed for $1000! I would rather go with that than wait for the TM Kit and pay out the ass.

Well I have to be honest with you. Superlift's 5.5" lift kit for the Explorer with all options plus good shocks costs over $2000. For that matter most lifts that are high are quite expensive. I also think that most of you guys with the newer Explorers that really really really want a lift, should take it to a place like Fly-N-Hi and have one put in. Sure they may cost a lot, they also may keep your truck for 2 weeks, but when they are done you will have a nice lifted Explorer. I am of the opionion that if you are not willing to shell out some bucks to get a lift then you really probably should not get one. (Ducking) My reasoning for this is, you will have to pay for more then just the lift. You will need tires, wheels, gears, lockers, etc... I am probably coming off as a weenier, but I always see it if there is a will there is a way. Therefore if you do not like the price of a lift kit, you should design your own and get rich off of it. If you really want a nice lift and can't get it. I would recomend Fab-Tech. My budy wanted a 8.5 inch lift for his baja pre-runner ranger. So I went to Fab-Tech, They informed me that if I wanted it they could make it. I also found out they are setting one up for a 97 and 99 explorers. check out the site and mail them. they gave me tons of positive feedback. they don't have any explorers on their site but they can make the lift of your dreams!

A lot of us East Coasters (well, pretty much all of us) won't be able to attend Trck Haven. Is someone going to ask about lifts for the 1995-1997 Explorers?

HI Tim,
You BET I'm gonna find out. I have a 97 and want to find out myself, so 95-97 will be present for the questioning. If you have any specific questions, please post them here and I will be more than glad to ask them for you. Dead Link Removed I will give a report on what they tell me, when I get back.

Hi Ray
I thought that the only difference between your 97 and my 98 XLT was the rear tailgate. I guess I was wrong.

Jim, that is true, but the thing is that the base for the torsion bars on the '98 are bolted on and on the '97 (which I happen to have) they are welded.
Apparently the TM kit needs these removed, but I don't think this should be much of a STOP for us with '97. I someone has modified a whole kit for a totally different truck to fit their Explorer, I'm sure we can make a minor adjustment to our truck to make this TM kit fit.

I, too, am very interested in this subject for the '95-'97 Explorers. When I bought my '95 last year I had no idea they weren't going to make a lift for those years. I may have bought a '98 or newer if I had known then what I know now. I look forward to your report when you get back. I would loved to have been able to come down for Truck Haven but I am unable to make the trip from Washington State. Good luck to those of you who can and have one hell of a time for the rest of us.
