ALRIGHT ALRIGHT ALRIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!
In case you couldn't already tell, I ran the trails today, and they basically rocked!!! The whole story is that there are actually 2 sites. One is really really short, but is a good warm up for first time offroaders. It also has a little more hill and bump type things than the other one. The stock Cherokee made it through with little trouble. Just one spot, and you'll see that on my web page, as soon as i get it written.
Then, just down the road from that one are trials that pretty much run for a long time along the illinois river. I didn't get to explore all of those, becuase we were starting to loose light. There was a small creek that would have to be passed to go any further than we did, but i didn't feel like getting stuck in the dark. As far as skill level goes, those are mostly ruts, mud, hills, water, sand, trees, blah blah blah. This one was neat, because on all of the deep puddles, there were always ways around them, if you didn't want to risk it. As you will see in some of the pictures (If i can get to a scanner soon), water went all the way through my engine area, and splashed the bottom of my hood. There are some places that I went through that i didn't want the Cherokee, or a stock explorer to go through. I'll try to get the pics online as soon as possible.
basically, if you are like me, and like outdoors, this place is really neat. there is some trash on the trails...beer cans, etc. but it isn't really horrible. Its right next to the river, and there is a psuedo beach, so we could break there for lunch or whatever. The other thing is, is that there are a bunch of trails running off of each other, and going in a bunch of different directioins. so if you felt like exploring, then you can. Overall, it was a fun day, and would be for anyone who just enjoys driving in adverse conditions.
I'll try to get the rest of the stuff online soon. let me know when you all think would be a good time to go. cool?
later,
scott
