I've got a 92 Explorer XLT, 4.0. I just changed the transmission fluid in my Mazdz M5R1, 5 speed, manual transmission. I learned what tranny I have from the info and help I got on this site. Anyway, the transmission had 90 weight oil in it and it is supposed to have transmission fluid in it. I believe it was driven approximately 10,000 miles with the oil. After flushing it, and putting the correct fluid in it, it runs great! It even shifts into gear easier! I'm wondering if that oil caused any damage and what should I look for. Maybe this is a dumb question, why do they put tranny fluid in a manual transmission? Also, the 4WD light on the dash doesn't work in 4 high but it works in 4 Low. Any suggestions? Thanks
