My explorer has 70000 on it now. Never had tranny work done (flush, filter, etc)

4.0 v6

So today im parked in a parking spot...put it in reverse..nothing. put it into park then back into reverse...nothing. I rev it to about 2500 and it pops into reverse and spins outta the parking lot.

Tranny fluid low?

It has always taken a while to engage...so maybe its always been low?

And finally, does anyone know anyone other than the dealer that will do tranny fluid...since its a closed system and doesnt have a visible dipstick?

Just had mine done today at Jiffy Lube, cost was like $90 but still cheaper than the dealer ...

I went to jiffy lube and a maintence center and neither could find the dipstick, therefore refused to do it. where is it EXACTLY? thanks.

do you have the 5 or 6 speed tranny??

Ive got the 5 spd

hmm...looks like ill just give it to the dealer. Not as easy as my 99 dodge where u just undo the plug and fill up top. Haha. dealer wants 130 to do it...its theirs.
