Tranny Fluid Leak to the Extreme

I just bought a 1992 Explorer Eddie Bauer with 91,628 miles. I paid $1400.
I thought it was a great deal....The truck is mint except for the fact that when I climb up my mountain road, 6 miles and very curvy and pull into my driveway the tranny drops about 1 quart of fluid from between the tranny and the engine. Is my tranny shot....she shift great... HELP

The transmission is probably not shot but it needs to be removed in order to replace the leaking seal at the front. Is it a manual or an automatic?

Second the front pump seal on that. Read up a lot on it. There is a lot of info. And its a major pain to replace.
