Tranny fluid question

The trans in my 98 has developed a small shudder. I'm going to change the filter & clean the pan. Is there a certain fluid to put in to help with the shudder? I had this same problem with my 97 Mustang GT. Put Mercon IV( I think) in and it's fine since.

Use Mercon V, which is required for your tranmission anyway.

Use a Merc V rated ATF, and preferably a full synthetic one.
