tranny not wanting to go into 3rd

i have a Jasper tranny automatic, was out driving and it kept reving in 2nd gear and wouldn't go into third unless i played with the gas pedal. once it was in there was no slipping and had no problem downshifting what so ever. i'm due for a transmission flush as i'm at 25k-27k and it will be it's first tranny flush. all the gears work great it's just getting into third that's the problem. fluid level is good but alil brown but doesn't smell burnt. i think it's just the fluid that needs to be changed. think i'm right? Can also be an issue with the clutch, check the fluid level before

It is very simple to learn how to adjust the clutch in a Ford Explorer. First, you should open up the hood and check for the clutch fluid. If it is low, then you should add more fluid. Once the clutch fluid is full, you can pump the clutch a few times and see if the level of the fluid goes down. If it goes down, then there might be a leak in the system and you should take the Ford Explorer in for repair.

Next, you can bleed the system. This will remove any air bubbles that are present in the clutch system. You can buy a vacuum online that will help you to bleed the clutch system. MityVac makes a good vacuum and they are available at MityVac.com. They make a few different models of vacuum and you can order them online if you want to. They are also available at many other online stores that you can find by doing a simple search. The vacuum will come with a tank and a hose.
Replace the clutch every 105,000 miles. Over time, the clutch of the Ford Explorer will wear, thanks to the friction it undergoes

doesn't work for me. i DON'T have a standard transmission so doesn't help me. I have no leaks nor any problems with it shifting what so ever till this day.

If youre having trouble getting it to shift into 3rd and you have to mess with the pedal before it will shift, then you might need to adjust the bands, or you could also have a broken intermediate band.

i went driving again in it today and noticed something new. once it does go into 3rd if i don't have a decent amount of speed it likes to downshift really quick like.

does that modulator valve only control 2-3 shift?

no, it controls all shifts, but i had the exact same problem, and it was the modulator valve:exp:

alright sounds promissing. gonna change the filter and fluid. drive it and see how that works and if it still persists gonna change the modulator valve. thanks

I've got a laundry list of "issues" with mine, including having to manually shift my automatic transmission (1 - 2 - OD... then a slip). The modulator has been sitting by the front door for months now, as soon as Jason gives a status report, maybe I'll finally install it. Maybe. Waiting with bated breath.....

Is the Jasper out of warranty? They have a 3 yr 36,000 I think so if you are having problems let them fix it.
